100 Women Who Care was started in November 2006 by Karen Dunigan of Jackson, Michigan, as a brilliantly simply way to raise money local charities. At their first meeting, 100 women raised $10,000 to buy 300 new cribs for an organisation in their city. Members arrive at the venue in time to register, provide a $100 donation, and receive their voting ballot.
Introductory remarks are followed by a random draw of three nominated charities. Brief presentations will commence and member voting will take place. While the votes are being tallied, the donee charity from the previous meeting will present.
The charity chosen this evening is announced followed by an evening of socializing, if you choose to stay!

You sure can! Joining with a Team allows you to split the cost and time commitment, while creating community with coworkers, friends, and like-minded peers.
To sign up as a Team, each Member must complete a Membership Commitment Form. Teams may be comprised of 2-4 people.
As a Team, you are allowed just one vote at each event, but everyone is welcome to attend. Teams are also welcome to fill out our Charity Nomination Form, and one Member will present on behalf of the Team, should that charity be selected for a vote.

Absolutely! Donations are issued directly to the charity and only registered charitable organisations will be sponsored by the group. In the event that two charities receive the donations on a given night, regardless of who you voted for, you will receive a tax donation from one of the charities. Tax receipts will be issued directly from the charity to the donor. Charities are legally responsible for issuing receipts by February each year.

Not a problem. Send your donation by e-transfer to TorontoWest100@gmail.com (password not required). You could also send your donation with a friend or drop it off to one of the Leadership Team Members. We will take good care of it for you!
You can give your friend - with whom you’ve entrusted your donation - the right to proxy vote for you. Simply provide them with an email stating you allow them to vote on your behalf. At the registration desk your friend can show this email to the proxy designate and receive your ballot.

Our goal is to make a large donation on behalf of the whole group, thusly, the answer is no. We want to be able to support this endeavor and give a single group donation to make a large impact in our community, with each Member contributing to the larger donation. This is the power of individuals united for a cause! We also need to be able to track your donations so that you get credit for the donation and remain an active, voting-eligible Member of the group.

None of it! 100 Women Who Care Toronto West is organized and operated by a volunteer team. Everything else has been given to us by generous donors in our community. 100% of the money raised at our meetings goes directly to the selected charity.

Meetings are intended to be brief and will last no longer than 60 minutes. Members are, however, invited to stay and socialize after each meeting.

Absolutely! We are always seeking philanthropic people to contribute their energy to the group.
In order to vote, the friend would need to bring a signed Membership Commitment Form to the meeting and become a Member, but guests are free to observe and contribute a donation.
